Camp Etiquette and Rules

Opape Motor Camp accepts no responsibility for any theft or damage to accommodations, vehicles or property on campgrounds. 

All campers and visitors camp here at their own risk.

All under 12 year olds must be accompanied by an adult in and around the campground.

Please respect the rights and privacy of other campers, we want everyone to enjoy their time here.

CHECK IN

  • Check In is after 2pm unless prior arrangement with management. 

  • Last Check In by 6pm

  • Site fees are due at Check In

CHECK OUT

  • Check Out is by 11am unless prior arrangement with management.

​

CARS​

  • One car per site.  When reversing check behind vehicle or have someone guide you.  Children are everywhere.

​

TREES

  • DO NOT tie anything to trees, swings, toys, animals etc.

  • If you want to hang a clothesline, please seek advice from management.

​

ELECTRICITY

  • No high out-put lights, spotlights.

  • No electric heaters, electric urns, air conditioners.

​

RUBBISH/RECYCLING

We only collect GLASS BOTTLES/PLASTIC BOTTLES/TIN AND ALUMINIUM CANS/RAW FOOD/COOKED FOOD

Please bag what we don't collect and take with you.

The local refuse station is:  OPOTIKI RESOURCE RECOVERY CENTRE, 38 Wellington St, Opotiki - Open Thurs-Mon 8-4pm

ABLUTION BLOCK - KITCHEN/FACILITY BLOCK

  • All under 12 year olds to be supervised.

  • Clean up after yourself, remove rubbish, turn off appliances/water when finished.

​

WATER

  • There is a filtered water tap in the kitchen block.

  • Water is from a limited source, please do not waste it.

  • NO washing boats/cars/caravans/bikes, if you need water to rinse your boat motor, please see management.

​

ANIMALS

  • Animals to be leashed or enclosed at all times in the camp.

  • No animals near, in or around the ablution block (kitchen/facility block)

  • Pick up animal waste and dispose of appropriately, do not throw into neighboring paddocks.

  • Do not tie animals to taps/fixtures/power boxes or trees.

BEACH SOUVENEIRS

  • Driftwood/shells/rocks - Take what you want but please return what you do not want back to the beach.

​

VISITORS

  • Visitors to the camp are to request permission from the camp management directly.

​

SECURITY

  • Front gates are locked in the Holiday Seasons from 10pm until 6am, unless prior arrangements are made.

  • Holiday Seasons include Labour Weekend, December - January/Christmas - New Years, Anniversary Weekends, Waitangi Weekend, Easter Long Weekend, Anzac Day and Kings Birthday.

  • All other days the gates are locked from 8.30pm until 7am unless prior arrangements are made.
